Melanie Wilkerson has been involved with sports her entire life. Although basketball is her passion, she’s played a variety of sports from youth all the way up to the collegiate level. She’s taken on many leadership roles in the form of being captain and has been awarded numerous athletic and student-athlete awards.

After moving to California from Michigan, Melanie attended Palomar College in 2008-2010 where she played basketball and was Captain of the back-to-back PCAC Conference Championship team. It’s there she received her Associates Degree in Behavioral and Social Sciences before transferring up to the University of Chico. At CSU Chico, Melanie continued to play collegiate sports, including Lacrosse and Ultimate Frisbee, while receiving her Bachelors in Psychology and minoring in Kinesiology.  Upon graduating from Chico in 2013, she realized she not only wanted to help people psychologically but also physically so she went on to become a certified personal trainer and coach, along with becoming an OCR Athlete where she competes at the Elite level in Obstacle Course Racing. Coach Mel has coached a variety of sports and is grateful she gets to be a part of developing an athlete’s love for the game.

“I love people and I love fitness. If I can bring the two things I love together, to help improve and change the lives of others…then I’m living the dream. C3 provides a platform to do just that."

Crossing paths with Coach Rochelle and Coach Carol Ann, who share the same passion for health and fitness, gives us an opportunity to join forces and share everything we know and love about sports with athletes who are ready to learn. Creating an environment where they can become both better players and better people, learning to overcome obstacles on and off the court, or the field, or the track. At C3 we're committed, we're a team, we're a family... and I'm proud to be a part of it.”

Melanie's Credentials include:

Coach Carol Ann is a Certified Personal Trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, a Nationally Accredited Interscholastic Coach, a member of USA Track & Field (USATF) and the Head Cross Country & Track & Field Coach for the San Diego Jewish Academy’s High School & Middle School Girls & Boys Teams.   She is also the Director of Program Development (Marketing, Advertising & Relationship Development) for Soccer Shots of San Diego Central, North County and Coastal Communities, an organization that teaches life skills and soccer skills to children, ages 2 - 10.  She is a graduate of the University of California, Berkeley, where she received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science, with a minor in Peace & Conflict Studies and French.  She was previously the Co-Founder, Co-Director and Running Coach for the San Diego Youth Fitness Club, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization whose mission is to educate young people about the importance of choosing a healthy and active lifestyle. Before that she was a Paralegal for an Immigration Law Firm and the Development Manager for the YWCA of San Diego County, a 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization who supports women, children and families who are survivors of Domestic Violence and Homelessness in San Diego County.   In college, Carol Ann also served as a Guide and Residential Assistant to Blind and Visually-Impaired Residents in Paris, France.  Carol Ann is an experienced Personal Trainer and Running Coach who has been teaching for nearly 7 years.  She is an avid athlete who loves everything about running and fitness.

When she is not coaching, you can find Carol Ann running…a lot!  She is a a marathoner who has completed over 20 marathons and half-marathons, and just about every distance race in between.  She considers a 16-mile mountain run or a 3-mile boot camp obstacle course on a Saturday morning, a fun way to kick off the weekend.  Her goal for 2017 is to run 2,017 miles by the end of the year in order to raise money for the Heather Abbott Foundation - a 501(c)(3) who provides prosthetic legs for people who have lost their legs due to a traumatic injury.

"When I was a teenager I was told by a coach that I should choose a different sport than running because I didn’t, 'have a runner’s body.' However, my mind and my heart told me otherwise.  I’ve spent my whole life proving to myself that I am capable not only of achieving my goals on and off the race course, but of inspiring others of all ages, backgrounds, shapes and sizes that they too do not have to be limited by the beliefs of others.  Running and fitness have and will continue to transform my life and allow me to serve a role in transforming the lives of others.  I am thrilled to be able to partner up with Coach Melanie and Coach Rochelle at C3 as we work to transform lives together."

Coach Rochelle

Rochelle Takhar developed a love for sports early on in life. She has grown up an athlete and although she has played many sports, basketball, soccer, and track are among her top 3. Playing since she was a young girl to the collegiate level, leading teams as a Captain and now continuing to push her limits and test her athleticism with Elite Obstacle Course Racing where she competes in a variety of races such as the Spartan Race, Terrain Race, and Epic Series.

She grew up in Northern California and graduated from the University of Chico in 2013. It is there where she continued her love for sports, but also developed a passion for teaching. Rochelle graduated with her Bachelors in Liberal Studies with a minor in Special Education. This passion carried onto California State University San Marcos where she earned her Multiple Subject Credential, Special Education Credential, and her Masters Degree. Being an advocate for fitness with youth played a major role in creating her Masters Project. Designing a guidebook, Mind Muscle Movement, that teachers can use to implement movement in the classroom. Rochelle has been a sports coach for many years and having an extensive background in sports, she has the ability to teach youth both on the field and in the classroom.

“Being able to teach kids is where my heart is, whether that’s academically or athletically; providing people with the tools they need to be successful. Playing sports has helped shape the person I am today. I truly believe it can have a positive impact on someone’s life, which is why being a Coach and Teacher is so important to me. At C3 we team up to develop all-around athletes and work to create an environment where the kids have as much fun as we do!”
